The Sunset Strip Music Festival [ tickets ] is scheduled to kick off June 26 with music at both the House of Blues and the Whisky A Go-Go, two of the more popular venues located on the legendary 1.3 mile stretch of West Hollywood city streets.At HoB, Mark McGrath will host a tribute to industry icons Lou Alder, Mario Maglieri and Elmer Valentine, which will be followed by musical performances from Everclear, Soul Asylum and Camper Van Beethoven. The event will feature Michelle Phillips, Cheech Marin and other special guests on hand to honor the music business heavyweights and their connection to the Sunset Strip.Across the Strip at the Whisky A Go-Go, L.A. Guns featuring Jani Lane of Warrant will start rocking at 11:30 p.m.Friday's (6/27) events will begin with an invitation-only Virgin America celebrity/VIP cocktail party at The Standard Hotel before the clubs open their doors for a night of music that will include Hot Hot Heat, The Shys and The Deadly Syndrome at The Roxy Theatre; Juliette & The Licks, Lady Sinatra and Looner at the Viper Room; and B Real of Cypress Hill featuring Slash and other special guests at the Whisky.Saturday's (6/28) events include a free, all-ages Wasted Space show with performances by Camp Freddy and Louis XIV as well as interactive games including Guitar Hero. The Wasted Space show, which will run from 1-9 p.m., will be broadcast live on Indie 103.1 FM.At night fall, clubs on the Sunset Strip will feature musical performances by a variety of acts including The 88, Derby and Satisfaction at The Roxy; Louis XIV and Transfer at the Viper Room; Starf***ers All Star Jam at The Cat Club; and Mickey Avalon, Andre Legacy, Beardo and Lisa D'Amato at the Key Club.Saturday's show at The Whisky will include an All Star Jam featuring McQueen with special guests Billy Boy on Poison; Faded Spades featuring Hollywood Allstarz and Joey Covington of Jefferson Airplane; and other "legendary" guests, according to the press release. The SSMF also will feature a Saturday night show at the House of Blues with special guests to be announced.The final day of the festival (6/28) will feature a Larry King-moderated "Icon Roundtable" discussion with Adler, Maglieri and Valentine at the new London West Hollywood Hotel, formerly the Bel Age.All club shows kick-off at 8 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
